Infiniti M35h Safety Sounds
People who continually shop at Infiniti Dealers Westborough are going to be pleasantly surprised to learn that the luxury inspirational brand is going to be selling a hybrid vehicle in their line up. The 2012 Infiniti M35h is the hybrid version of their popular M35 sedan and should be arriving at Westborough Infiniti in late 2011. A lot of the current hybrid vehicles on the roads right now are incredibly quiet, which drivers love but it can pose a problem for pedestrians. Providence Used Cars sells their fair share of used hybrid vehicles, and it won’t be long until an aftermarket company starts selling some sort of noise device for extra safety.
Infiniti is trying to stay one step ahead of the game by putting their brand new Approaching Vehicle Sound for Pedestrians (VPS) speaker on the 2012 M35h. This will be a standard feature and a noise will be emitted via a speaker at the front of a vehicle when the car is traveling at speeds less than 19 mph. Also, an intermittent noise will be emitted while the vehicle is reversing. Because hybrid vehicles are able to run purely off the battery pack at low speeds, the vehicle is incredibly quiet. This poses a safety problem for pedestrians, especially blind people, who are used to the noise from traditional gas or diesel engines.
A lot of government groups are currently lobbying to make noise devices required on all hybrid vehicles. Infiniti’s VPS will use a series of different pitches and tones, with levels ranging from 2.5-kilohertz up to 600-hertz. This will help increase the likelihood that people of all ages will be able to hear the noise device. The 2012 M35h features a 3.5-liter V6 engine combined with an electric motor that puts out 68 horsepower. When you add that to the 306 horsepower from the V6, drivers are able to accelerate quickly and save fuel at the same time.
