One great thing about the vehicles at Westborough Infiniti is that if you are unable to afford them, there is always the less expensive Nissan counterpart available.  One perfect example of this is the Nissan Murano in place of the Infiniti FX.  If you decide to go for the Infiniti FX from Infiniti Dealership Westborough, you can plan on spending anywhere between $41,600 and $56,400, which is current MSRP value.  The actual sale price is usually about $3,000 lower, but still can’t compare with the $28,500 to $39,140 Nissan Murano MSRP price range.  Of course, if both of these vehicles are still over budget, consider a slightly older model from somewhere like Used Car Dealers AL.

The 2011 Infiniti FX as well as the 2011 Nissan Murano are both class favorites and have plenty to offer their drivers.  Both get 23 mpg on the highway but the Murano will get you slightly better gas mileage around town than the Infiniti FX.  The base model FX35 comes with a 3.5-liter V6 engine that churns out 303 horsepower.  The slightly larger FX50 comes with a 5.0-liter V8 with an impressive 390 horsepower and both trims comes with a seven-speed automatic transmission.  The Murano is set up a bit differently and comes with a CVT (continuously variable transmission).  Also, their 3.5-liter V6 only puts out 260 horsepower.

Current consumers report that while they love driving around town in their 2011 Infiniti FX, it isn’t really meant for off-road capabilities.  Plus, if you have a family, you might be concerned about getting the interior ruined by the little ones.  Some flaws that Infiniti will likely fix in the near future is the lacking visibility because of the rear pillars as well as overall functionality.  The Murano is incredibly family friendly and offers tons of versatility.  However, its visibility is also limited, a safety feature that parents aren’t overly fond of.

We are pretty sure that people are aware that Infiniti and Nissan are related; Infiniti is simply the luxury version of Nissan.  Just like Lincoln is the upscale version of Kansas City Ford vehicles, a lot of auto brands will be associated and you won’t even know it.  But we are curious how their similar vehicles really compare.  Looking at the Nissan Murano versus the Infiniti FX, it really does come down to personal preference and how much you are willing to spend.  While Nissan’s prices rival those found at Boston Hyundai, the Infiniti line up costs quite a bit more up front.  This review will focus solely on interior features, but you need to test drive any vehicle before deciding to purchase it.  If you are still unable to make a decision, go drive something from Fayetteville Mazda to widen your realm of possibilities.

The 2010 Nissan Murano is available in three different trim levels; S, SL, and LE.  All models have an attractive interior cabin with obvious quality infused in the materials.  Plus, there are plenty of options so you can customize and upgrade your purchase.  Keep in mind that option packages can get pricey.  Standard features across the board include dual-zone climate control, keyless entry, leather on the shifter, auxiliary jack, and six-CD changer.  The seats are comfortable and leather is standard on the LE, optional on the SL.  There aren’t many options available for the base S model.  There is tons of storage; 31.6 cubic feet with all the seats in use and 64.0 cubic feet with the backseats folded down.

Cargo storage in the 2010 Infiniti FX isn’t as spacious as some of the competition; 24.8 cubic feet with all seats being used and 62.0 with the backseats folded down.  A lot of consumers wish that Infiniti had put more innovative storage compartments rather than focusing so much on gadgets.  While everyone loves a luxury car and the convenience features it comes with, some of the control panel items are overwhelming to a lot of drivers.  Like the Murano, there are tons of packages available for a price; XM radio, hard drive based navigation, rear seat entertainment, and built in media storage.  While the seats are plush and comfortable, fitting three adults in the backseat leaves passengers wishing for more legroom and headroom.

Just looking at pricing, they are doing all right when you consider a brand new FX35 starts out at $41,600 and you can easily spend more than that on an SUV from Ford Cleveland.  But when you match up the Infiniti FX35 to a fair competitor, such as the Audi Q5, the story is slightly different.  The Audi Q5 starts out at $51,050, which is a good deal higher than the FX35, but you get a longer list of standard features from Audi.  At the end of the day, once you have added on all of your fancy packages, the prices are relatively equal.  But, Audi has the longstanding reputation that Infiniti has yet to establish.

Even in the sedan world, Infiniti has strong competition from its luxury friends.  Their popular sedan, the M Class, has a base price of $46,500.  When we look at the popular BMW 5-Series and see a base price of $51,900, you would instantly think that Infiniti is outselling the BMW 5-Series.  But that is not the case at all.  Again, BMW has been in the game for a long time and the resale value with the 5-Series is far better than anything from Infiniti.  While Infiniti’s reputation gains more time, their popularity will increase.  They just need to remember who their competition is.
